Kursat's Enchilada Paste is a tomato and dried chilli paste made in Brecon, Wales by development chef Kursat Pisil, and in 2026 it won a coverted 3-star Great Taste Award - the top rating, given to under 2% of everything entered. It's built from real Guajillo and Ancho chillies, brown sugar, cocoa and warm spices like cumin, coriander and cinnamon, for a deep, smoky heat with natural sweetness behind it. Like the rest of the Kursat's range, it's made with no artificial flavourings, colours or additives - the slow work of building layers of flavour, already done for you.

Stir a couple of tablespoons into softened onions and garlic as the base for a proper pan of enchiladas, or use it as a quick marinade for chicken or tofu before it goes on the grill. It's just as good stirred into a pot of chilli or black bean stew for a shortcut to real depth of flavour, or loosened with soured cream or yoghurt for a smoky dip with tortilla chips.

Why we love it:

  • Won a 3-star Great Taste Award in 2026 - the highest rating, awarded to under 2% of entries
  • Made by development chef Kursat Pisil in Brecon, Wales, in the same chef-developed style as the rest of the Kursat's range
  • Built on real Guajillo and Ancho chillies rather than powdered stand-ins, with brown sugar, cocoa and warm spice for real depth
  • No artificial flavourings, colours or additives, and made in a nut-free, sesame-free kitchen
  • A genuine shortcut - it does the slow work of building a proper spice base so you don't have to

How to use:

  • Stir 2-3 tablespoons into softened onion and garlic as the base for enchiladas, then add shredded chicken or beans and roll into tortillas
  • Rub over chicken thighs or tofu as a quick marinade before grilling or roasting
  • Stir a spoonful into chilli, black bean stew or a tomato sauce for extra depth
  • Loosen with soured cream or yoghurt for a smoky dip
