Burcol's premium Spanish cooked chickpeas in jars are excellent quality, they make a fantastic base ingredient for soups, stews and salads and can be made into excellent smooth hummus without the grainy texture you can get from the tinned varieties. They are the perfect storecupboard ingredient.
How do jarred chickpeas differ from canned chickpeas?
The canning and jarring process is essentially the same, chickpeas are cooked and preserved in either a can or a glass jar. However, the canning process is much harsher on the chickpeas - the heat from the preservation process takes longer to penetrate through the metal can, so the variety of chickpeas used for cans has to be tougher, less creamy and with thicker skins to withstand the extra time it takes.
The raw ingredients that are selected for preserving in glass jars have been grown for flavour and texture, with lovely creamy texture and thin, tender skins.

Ingredients: Chickpeas, water, salt, sequestrant (E385), preservative: sodium metabisulphite
We aim to process every order within 24hrs (Mon-Fri). Orders placed after 12pm will generally be processed the following day.
Once your order has been packed, standard delivery takes 48hrs once it leaves our warehouse, we do have an express option which is 24hrs and is recommended when ordering any chilled items.
We can mail order ambient and chilled ingredients to the whole of the UK, including all of The Scottish Highlands and Islands and Northern Ireland.
Unfortunately, we cannot mail order frozen items.
All shipments are tracked, we use a combination of The Royal Mail and DPD, tracking numbers are emailed to you for each order.
Our shipping rates depend on the weight of your order and start from £3.99 shipping rates are calculated at checkout.
All the packaging we use is compostable or just paper and cardboard that can easily
be disposed of in your kerbside recycling. (Chilled items are sent in temperature controlled pouches with ice packs
which are not compostible but can be reused).
I have just discovered these chickpeas which I have used to make some delicious hummus. The perfectly cooked chickpeas make a beautiful smooth hummus. They have become a store cupboard staple.

I really enjoyed these peppers, they’re a nice reminder of pintxos in Bilbao. Very nice!
Pizza base, Mutti Tomato Polpa, Fior mozzarella ball and a tin of sardines all from Somerset Foodie with some olives and other oddments from home enabled my grandchildren (who are pizza connoisseurs!) my daughter and I to have the most delicious pizzas over Easter. We each chose our own toppings and creative designs - completely delicious and very satisfying! Half a pizza is a generous portion by the way… so I still have 3 bases in the freezer! Thank you Ben
